Do we need to have a wedding license in the state of Arizona?

Yes, you will need to obtain a marriage license from the state of Arizona. I can guide you through this process to ensure everything is handled properly before your wedding day.

How do we apply for a marriage license in Arizona?

To apply for a marriage license, both partners must appear together in person at the Clerk of the Superior Court office. You’ll need to provide valid identification (such as a passport or driver's license). There’s no waiting period in Arizona, so you can use the license immediately.

Will our marriage be legally recognized in my fiancé(e)’s home country?

What is a K-1 Visa?

A K-1 nonimmigrant visa, also known as the "fiancé(e) visa," allows a U.S. citizen to bring their foreign-born fiancé(e) to the United States for marriage.

To qualify for a K-1 visa, you and your fiancé(e) must both have the intention of marrying within 90 days of their arrival in the U.S. The marriage must be genuine, meaning you both intend to build a life together—not simply to gain immigration benefits.

Once married, your fiancé(e) can then apply to adjust their status by submitting Form I-485 (Application to Register Permanent Residence or Adjust Status), beginning the process of becoming a lawful permanent resident and obtaining a green card.
